The QR codes displayed in Claude Closky’s Concrete Poetry do not grant access to a digital health pass, a restaurant menu or some corporate company website. “Quick Response” codes can store anything from digits to characters, punctuation marks and special characters. Without serving any practical function, each of them is here coded with a concrete poem. These graphic compositions play randomly on the idea of being “valid” or “not valid”. They are technically sound but the information conveyed by the codes is misspelled, distorted, with no other logic than the diversion of a technological tool to artistic purposes.
